The coalition, which began as an advocacy group for lowrider cruising rights, now focuses on supporting families in need. The trailer was delivered through a partnership with the Chula Vista Community Collaborative, and the gesture was especially meaningful for Araceli, whose father worked with lowrider cars in the past.

The United Lowriders Coalition is lifting spirits this holiday season, and not just with hydraulics. On Friday, they cruised in with this big gift for one South Bay mother and her three daughters. This is actually a pop-up trailer. Jovita is the president of the United Lowrider Coalition. She says the group started about four years ago to get the statewide bill AB43 passed, ending the ban on lowrider cruising. Now they're focusing on helping out families and youth in their communities. In just one month, the Lowriders raised $4,000 to purchase this pop-up trailer. It's going to Araceli Zamarripa. And it'll sleep five people inside, and it has a little refrigerator in there. It has a little cooking area. This family is homeless. Araceli and her daughters have been struggling with stable housing as she's been battling stage four kidney disease. I've been sleeping in my car for the past few years, and I really haven't been able to work due to my health conditions. Like I don't qualify for a low-income apartment. The Lowriders found Araceli through the Chula Vista Community Collaborative, which connects organizations to adopt families. The Lowriders surprised Araceli, not just with the pop-up trailer, but also fully decorating it and stocking it with food supplies. I love it. I'm just like really blessed that I have something for my kids now. This moment was the big reveal for Araceli's daughters. I want to cry. I was homeless way back in the day, and I know how that feels. And they're going to be safe from now on. This is a full circle moment for Araceli, who says growing up, her dad worked with the Lowriders. He used to do like all the chroming for the Lowrider cars. And when they called me and they told me that the Lowriders had adopted my family, I was like crying, because I just said, well, that's my dad. In Imperial Beach, Dani Miskell, ABC 10 News.
