UN humanitarian affairs chief Tom Fletcher has reported that Gaza City, once the largest urban center in the Gaza Strip, has been left almost entirely destroyed by Israeli airstrikes. Fletcher, who recently visited the area, described vast sections of the city as flattened and unrecognizable, with widespread damage to buildings and infrastructure.

Fletcher expressed deep regret over the international community's inability to prevent the ongoing destruction and suffering in Gaza. He noted that while some signs of life and hope are returning in certain areas, the scale of devastation has rendered statistical accounts of the damage almost meaningless.
