The situation highlights the persistent danger faced by displaced Ukrainians and the significant changes in societal roles, particularly for women, amid the ongoing conflict.

A new city and a new profession, but always thoughts of home. Arena is just one of 3.7 million internally displaced people in Ukraine forced to flee due to the war. Every day, every day I want to come back home, just to feel at home, even if only for a minute. Pokrovsk, her city of birth, has been in the news. Now the front line of Russian attempts to gain control of all of the Donbass. It used to be a vibrant city of 60,000 people, but like Arena, most have fled. This was our apartment with my mother. This is everything left behind. This is the entrance to our building. This used to be my bedroom. For over a year, Russian forces have been attempting a pincer manoeuvre to cut off the city from its supply lines. Now they're only a few kilometres from success. Where should I come back? There's no place to come back to. I don't have an apartment there anymore. There are no close people left there. Everything is ruined. Early Saturday, a drone attack on Dnipro, Arena's new city, killed three while they were sleeping. In this war, fleeing the front lines is no guarantee of safety from waves of Russian drones and strikes.
