U.S. officials, including Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Whitkoff, participated in the talks, where security guarantees for Ukraine were largely agreed upon, focusing on deterrence and defense measures.

European nations, including France and the U.K., expressed readiness to deploy troops to Ukraine following a peace deal, while Germany indicated willingness to join a multinational force outside Ukraine's borders. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that key documents on security guarantees are nearly ready for signing, though some issues remain unresolved. Russia was not involved in the discussions and continues its military actions in Ukraine.

Notably present to discuss how to end the war in Ukraine, a U.S. delegation, including President Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and special envoy Steve Whitkoff. After Tuesday's meetings, Whitkoff said security guarantees for Ukraine had largely been agreed to. Those security protocols are meant to A, deter any attacks, any further attacks in Ukraine, and B, if there are any attacks, they're meant to defend. Since Trump's combative Oval Office meeting with Vladimir Zelensky and his subsequent summit in Alaska with Vladimir Putin, the Europeans have sought to shore up support for Ukraine on their own. President Macron, who hosted a similar meeting without the Americans almost a year ago, said he was encouraged by their presence. The United States of America has clarified its participation, particularly regarding what is called monitoring, that is, surveillance of the front line. France and the U.K. have declared they are ready to deploy troops to Ukraine in the aftermath of a peace deal, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said German soldiers could be part of a multinational force outside Ukraine's borders. For his part, President Zelensky said a large sticking point remained issues related to but that he was encouraged by new assurances from European allies and the U.S. We believe that we have documents ready on security guarantees between Ukraine, the U.S., as well as trilateral documents. We expect that signing them will be possible in the near future. Moscow is not part of the discussions in Paris and continues to pound Ukraine with daily attacks. President Putin has ruled out any deployment of troops from NATO countries on Ukrainian soil.
