Some parents opted to take their children back to their homes, while others, whose conditions necessitated continued medical care, were transferred to alternate hospitals capable of providing the necessary treatment. The urgency of the situation was heightened by the experience of multiple air raid sirens and the explicit threat to the hospital's safety.

The allegations of militarization of hospitals by Kiev were firmly denied by the city's mayor, who invited scrutiny of the facilities to verify that they were solely engaged in providing patient care. The mayor's statements were against the backdrop of over 1,600 attacks on health centers documented by the World Health Organization since the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with these incidents resulting in more than a hundred fatalities.

The children's hospital was one of two threatened by Russian strikes on Friday. Forced to evacuate, some parents chose to return home with their children. But others didn't have that luxury. They were transferred to facilities nearby. We were told that there would be emergency evacuation of all patients because of possible shelling. Yesterday there were four air raid sirens. We had to go to the shelter. Today it's serious. We were told to leave the hospital. Those who can should go home. Those who are undergoing treatment and have medical conditions are sent to other hospitals that can admit them. The evacuations were triggered by comments made by the head of the KGB in Belarus, one of Russia's closest allies. He accused Kiev of using hospitals to hide military personnel, further suggesting that Russia could regard the facilities as legitimate military targets. Speaking on Friday, the city's mayor denounced any such accusations. The aggressor directly threatened to attack our medical facility. They even mentioned the address. There is a children's hospital here. They say they are motivated by the fact that the military is here. You can come and have a look. There are only patients being treated here in the hospital. According to the World Health Organization, there have been over 1,600 attacks on health centers since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, resulting in more than a hundred deaths.
