The incident prompted a major response from British Transport Police, with armed officers arresting two British men, aged 32 and 35, at Huntingdon station where the train made an emergency stop.

The suspects, who remain in police custody, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing as they seek to determine the motivations behind the attack.

Counter-terrorism policing were initially supporting our investigation, however at this stage there is nothing to suggest that this is a terrorist incident. Two men were arrested when armed police responded to the scene at Huntingdon station where the train made an emergency stop. The two men who remain in police custody were identified as 32 and 35-year-old British nationals born in the UK of Black Caribbean descent. They were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. There was quite a few people coming through, Coach G, and one of the people that were coming through had my headphones on, then heard them say, they've got a knife, I've been stabbed. The train departed Doncaster and was en route to London when the attack occurred. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing as police look to discover the motivations behind the attack.
