Israeli officials say the Islamist group is dragging its feet. They can easily bring a significant number of dead hostages and give them back. Hamas says that it's impossible to retrieve all remaining bodies now because they were trapped on the rubble. It has asked for digging equipment. Instead, an international team is taking on this task. Rescuers from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the US are gathering data from Hamas and Israeli intelligence. In recent days, Israel has limited the entry of more aid into Gaza as a way of pressing Hamas to return hostages' remains. These images from Friday show trucks which have entered the enclave. In spite of pressure from Israel and the US over the first phase of the deal, Hamas is continuing to crack down on opponents and rival clans, triggering this message from the US president. If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them. But Hamas says it will not disarm or abandon its control over Gaza as required by Donald Trump's plan. Palestine needs to strengthen internal consultation and mutual understanding to prevent external interference. The US and France have already said their troops will not take part in the international force which is supposed to disarm Hamas, lowering expectations that the ceasefire deal can be implemented.

The Trump administration is awaiting word from the Supreme Court after asking it to allow the immediate deployment of National Guard troops to Illinois to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. A lower court blocked the move.
