Caroline Sunshine, deputy communications director with the Trump campaign, stated that only Donald Trump himself knows who his vice presidential pick will be. Political oddsmakers at the gambling site Odds Checker have identified several favorites, including Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, former Cabinet Secretary Ben Carson, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

There is interest from voters such as Susie Zeisling, an undecided voter in Georgia who previously supported Nikki Haley. She mentioned that a strong vice-presidential pick, specifically someone like Haley, could influence her voting decision. However, one of the leading contenders, Senator Marco Rubio, could present a legal issue. The Constitution mandates that the president and vice president cannot be from the same state, and both Trump and Rubio currently reside in Florida. One would have to declare another state as their home.

The individual selected as Trump's running mate will have to debate Vice President Kamala Harris in the coming weeks. The selection will be significant not only for the individual but also for the Republican Party as Trump's vice-presidential pick could be viewed as the successor to his political movement, especially since Trump can only serve one more term as president.
