In a post on True Social, President Trump says his meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia will take place in the great state of Alaska. Following the president's post, an advisor to President Putin said on X, let's partner on environment, infrastructure and energy in Arctic and beyond, with no mention of Ukraine. The president did not say if President Volodymyr Zelensky would attend the meeting, but one senior White House official told CBS News plans are fluid and that the Ukrainian leader could still be involved. At stake, sections of Ukraine Russia gained during the war and other parts of land Putin wants. Well, you're looking at territory that's been fought over for three and a half years with, you know, a lot of Russians have died, a lot of Ukrainians have died. So we're looking at that, but we're actually looking to get some back and some swapping. In a social media post, President Zelensky urged countries to continue putting pressure on Russia. Ukraine is a sovereign country and President Zelensky agreeing to give away parts of his country is really complicated for a democracy like Ukraine. Trump and Putin last met in 2019 at the G20 summit in Japan. The two leaders have spoken several times this year, but in recent weeks, President Trump has grown increasingly frustrated with Putin. I'm very disappointed. I'm disappointed in President Putin, very disappointed in him. Last month, the president threatened more sanctions against Moscow, including secondary tariffs on countries that do business with Russia. The deadline for Russia to avoid sanctions and make peace was Friday. In a post on X, President Zelensky said Ukraine will not give their land to the occupier. Meanwhile, it's unclear if the White House will announce additional sanctions. But earlier this week, the U.S. imposed higher tariffs on goods from India, totaling 50 percent, claiming the country directly or indirectly imports Russian oil.
