While there are no immediate concerns, the Atlantic Basin is beginning to wake up. Two main systems are being monitored for potential tropical development, which could lead to interest in the coming week.

Nassau

Meteorologists are observing increased activity in the Atlantic tropics, with particular attention on invest 96L located off the coast of Africa. The likelihood of this system developing into a tropical storm in the next week is currently estimated at 30%, with most models suggesting it will move into the northern Atlantic.

Another area of concern is a tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles, which could encounter conditions favorable for development, such as adequate moisture and lower wind shear. Residents and travelers in the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic and nearby islands, are advised to stay informed as there is a chance of increased rainfall and surf activity.

Tropics are beginning to heat up in the Atlantic

Things are bubbling out there. We've got an area to watch this off the coast of Africa. We've got invest 96 L and of course we've got that energy moving off the eastern seaboard of the United States and will have live reports coming up in that location. In Ocean City before long, but right now invest 96 L the chance of development over the next couple of days not good, in fact, less than good. Way, way less than good at zero next 30 days, or rather next seven days. 630 days. Well, that's a heck of a forecast. Next seven days we have a 30% chance for the development. The good news about that. That's going to move into the northern Atlantic. This one raises a bit more concern. Next seven days, 30% chance for the development with the West Northwest Westway movement, and as it does so, could move into an area where there could be some development. Now, as we examine this particular wave, there could be some Saharan dust, but probably not a whole lot. That's going to hamper it too much in terms of sheer. There could be some sheer out there, but that high pressure. The North is going to help give it a little bit of encouragement as it slides away a bit more towards the West and keeps it also possibly shutting the door on any northerly movement. So a lot to follow there. You've got moisture out there more than enough to support some development. And actually, although sheer can be something pardon me, they can really inhibit the structure of these storms. Sometimes lower shear can actually support be be conducive to more development. And that's what we see here. So we search for areas of rotation and we are going out again. Not 30 days here, but well into next week and you'll see a couple of areas where we see things begin to pinwheel so to speak, and that due East of the Lesser Antilles. We're watching that one particular area. If you've got any plans in the Dominican Republic, maybe you're going to any of the islands. You can expect a chance, possibly of some activity, and maybe of course some enhanced surfing heavy rainfall at the minimum.
