A dating app being introduced in Barcelona is breaking new ground by helping people with Down’s Syndrome or intellectual disabilities find friends or romantic partners safely. After a year’s pilot, the Dinder Club app is now live and there are plans to roll it out across the country.

That's the meet-up section where you can find all the users. You can swipe right or left, depending on whether you like the person or not. Elena is 28 and has an intellectual disability, which has often made her relationships with others difficult. She feels safer using Dindr. On other apps, there is a higher chance of being ridiculed, of people laughing at you, but here it's natural. Hi, Laura. The app is free, developed with the help of specialist associations in order to guarantee the security of its 150 users. Before the sign-up, we spend an hour and a half with each user. We analyse their profile and evaluate to what extent they're independent. Good, right? The application also offers organised activities. Today, Elena is meeting up with others via the app for a photo shoot. Look at the top model, look! Accompanied by social workers, the participants quickly get to know each other. It's great to see how they're talking to each other. They suggest activities. Afterwards, they go for drinks, they take pictures of each other and send them. New friendships to share life's uncertainties and matters of the heart. I don't like to be so stressed. The app is currently available in just Barcelona, but in the light of its success, it will soon be rolled out to Catalonia and then to the rest of Spain.
