Violene White, a grandmother and beloved wife, was fatally stabbed by a teenage boy in the car park of a shopping centre in Redbank Plains, Brisbane. The incident took place in front of her six-year-old granddaughter, with the motive believed to be the theft of White's car. Despite White handing over her car keys willingly, she was killed in the attack. The family has described the ongoing pain and trauma, particularly for the young granddaughter who witnessed the event. The teenager, who stands over two metres tall, will be sentenced in November.

And I'm holding back tears now, but those final moments, I wouldn't wish on anyone. The worst part is sitting there and listening to what he'd done. Stage by stage, by the person attacking your wife, stabbing her directly in the heart and dying there on the floor in front of her granddaughter. And she's the one who's going to suffer for the rest of her life. This is the first time Violene's family have been in the same room as the teenager. They say they were startled by his size. He stands over two metres tall. All that went through my mind personally is what on earth did my mum think in that moment? Violene was only about five foot two.
