Russian drones have again struck parts of Ukraine overnight with these images capturing the the fiery aftermath of an attack on the southern port city of Odessa destroyed several cars and damaged a nearby supermarket officials say one person was injured and as that fighting continues Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky has announced his country will hold another round of peace talks with Russia tomorrow Charlotte Gallagher with our partners at BBC News joins us now from Kyiv with more on this good morning to you Charlotte so what hope is there for a breakthrough with these talks considering the Russian attacks continue morning Errol I'd say there's little hope here in Ukraine that this will reach any kind of breakthrough in terms of a potential ceasefire and that's because Ukraine and Russia are just poles apart on how they see this war ending Russia wants large amounts of Ukrainian territory in the east it also wants a promise from NATO and Ukraine that Ukraine will never join NATO and that just isn't acceptable to Ukraine they feel they'll be left without any security protection in the future and they believe that Russia may might try to take more land in the future as well go into Ukraine again and take even more land I mean the one thing they could agree really is more swaps of prisoners of war I mean thousands have been swapped already from both sides I mean we spoke to one yesterday who'd been kept in captivity for three years in a Russian prisoner of war camp and so for people like that these talks can achieve huge things I mean his family didn't know where he was for 18 months he was listed as a missing person so for individual families of prisoners kept in Ukraine in Russia it's a huge step for them to be released back to their families and Charlotte in the past month we've noticed this change in tone from President Trump toward Russian President Vladimir Putin could that help Ukraine put more pressure on the Kremlin I think it's certainly a relief here in Ukraine that President Trump appears to have changed his tone about President Putin you know openly saying that he was fed up with President Putin felt let down and he said one thing on the phone to President Trump and then did another thing altogether I mean President Trump gave Russia 50 days essentially to come to some sort of deal with Ukraine and the clock is ticking down on that and also there was a suggestion from President Trump that if Russia didn't agree there would be a hundred percent tariffs on any country that deals with Russia so China India and Brazil do a lot of dealings with Russia and so perhaps he's hoping that those countries will also put pressure on Russia to come to some kind of deal with Ukraine Charlotte Gallagher great to get your insight joining us today from key thanks for your time
