A former police officer who fired 10 shots during the raid that led to Breonna Taylor's death has received a prison sentence of nearly three years. This decision follows a Justice Department recommendation of only one day in prison for Brian Hankison. 

The case, which occurred five years ago in Louisville, sparked widespread protests against police brutality. Breonna Taylor, 26, was killed after plainclothes officers entered her home and her boyfriend, believing they were intruders, fired his weapon. Taylor was shot six times during the incident.
