A recent college graduate and his friend were killed in Houston after their car was hit and caught fire in a crash caused by an alleged drunk driver, who has since been charged with two counts of murder.

Two men were killed in Houston when their car was struck by a suspected drunk driver who was reportedly fleeing police. The victims, Ronnie Burns and Jaden Fleming, were fraternity brothers attending a group event. Burns had recently graduated from Florida A and M and had just started a new job in Atlanta. Authorities allege that 21-year-old Renee Hernandez ran a red light and collided with the victims' vehicle, causing it to catch fire. Hernandez has been charged and appeared before a judge after being transferred from the hospital to jail. The families of the victims have received support from their community as they mourn the loss.

Alex Boy, a talk to Ronnie's family about the loss and he joins us now. Alex. Hey, guys, you know a sad situation. Ronnie's brother, Ronnie Burns, was shot in the head. He was shot in the head. He was ordered whether or not to go to a fraternity event in Houston. He ultimately decided to go and hours later, they would learn that he had died, allegedly hit by a drunken driver. It was an overnight awakening. No parent ever wants to get. I got that alert because he had me in his phone is the emergency contact shortly after two Saturday morning, Kimberly and Ronnie Burns got an automatic response to a phone call from a friend of the victim. The victim, however, was involved in a car crash. We call. No answer. I call. No answer. Um takes no answer. No response. Burns a Duncanville high school alum had just graduated from Florida A and M and gotten a job in Atlanta. He decided to drive to Houston, along with a fellow Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity brother, Jaden Fleming to attend the Texas Greek picnic. He was really excited to be back in the community. And to see his future, but his future was cut short when, according to a Harris County constable, Burns is Lexus was struck by a drunken driver. The impact caused Burns's car to catch fire, killing him and his friend, the medical examiner notified Burns's parents. That's what they told us that my baby was involved in a rig, you know? And, uh, he got involved in a car crash. He got involved in a car crash. He got involved in a car crash. I don't get anything. It's nothing. For me to go get my baby. The Burns's visited the crash site on Wednesday, they said. While difficult, they are comforted by the outpouring of support. One friend sent Burns his dad this recent video of his son.
