The ruling affirms the state's authority over redistricting and is seen as a significant victory for the GOP amid ongoing national debates over gerrymandering and election integrity.

The decision drew dissent from Justices Kagan, Sotomayor, and Jackson, who argued the map disadvantages minority voters. The ruling is expected to influence redistricting efforts in other states, with further cases, such as one in Louisiana concerning the Voting Rights Act, anticipated to reach the Supreme Court soon.

Supreme Court clears Texas '26 map in big win for GOP

some developing news overnight, that big win for the GOP when it comes to the redistricting question, that case out of Texas, the Supreme Court has heard it. They've ruled now and that the districting map can stand. Of course, there were questions about whether that Republican led redistricting map would win the day in the end. The Supreme Court has way in and standing behind it. Your reaction, it'll mean five more seats for Republicans come the midterms. Yeah, I'm not surprised by this. This is a very clear constitutional issue. The province of redistricting is clearly within the ability of the states. It's why you're seeing dramatic gerrymandering in New York state. I have a long stretching, very gerrymandered district as do all the Republicans in New York and they will be continuing to try to do this in California and everywhere the Democrats control states. They've been doing this for decades. This is how the Democrats win power. I just wanna mention something. This Texas redistricting is really more of an alignment because you're seeing Republican districts, some are Republican, so they call plus 30 and 40, going to plus 15 and 10, which makes them more competitive actually. So a lot of hypocrisy coming from the Democrats, but nonetheless, they will do anything and everything to cling to power. I just say, look at New York and California. The Democrats have been doing this for a long time. They will use any method to undermine the voters. They did it in 2021 to undermine statewide referendums that were voted on by a two-to-one Democratic state in favor of election integrity, but the Democrats that control everything, who control everything in the state legislature overturned the will of the voters in 2021 and they did it again with redistricting in New York state in 2022 and again in 2024. So don't listen to them when they cry wolf on this. Yeah, it's been going on for years and certainly this Texas case, actually the map that was passed most recently, the redistricting map passed most recently was correcting a racially drawn districting map previously, which would have been shut down by the Supreme Court back then. Absolutely. But this does, nonetheless, it clears the path for all these other states, sets us up now. To your point, we're gonna start seeing redistricting battles square off across the country here. We know Florida is setting up to do it, Indiana, others as well. This as dissenting justices, Kagan along with judges, Sonia Sotomayor and Katonji Brown-Jackson, of course, they were leading the dissent from the Supreme Court. Jackson wrote that dissent. She said this, this ruling guarantees that Texas's new map with all its enhanced partisan advantage will govern next year's election. She went on, it deserves the millions of Texans whom the district court found were assigned to their new districts based on their race. How are the two sides seeing this so differently, Congresswoman? Well, look, this is a huge political decision in dissent written by Katonji Brown-Jackson. Let's see how she weighs in on the Louisiana case where we actually look at the Voting Rights Act. And that is gonna be the critical case when it comes down to how the Supreme Court actually votes. And if we need to continue to have race-based redistricting, which if she sides on the side of race-based redistricting, that will be determined by her vote in Louisiana. And we'll see where that goes. And the Voting Rights Act is gonna be a critical issue going forward for the Supreme Court. We expect to have that decision sometime in early January. I wanna pivot quickly to the pipe bomb suspect, the arrest. This investigation, it drug on for close to five years with very little movement. The new FBI laser focus here on this, Pam Bondi was speaking about it yesterday. Lack of movement on this case in our nation's capital undermined the public trust of our enforcement agencies. This cold case languished for four years until Director Patel and Deputy Director Bongino came to the FBI. The FBI, along with U.S. Attorney Pirro and all of our prosecutors have worked tirelessly for months sifting through evidence that had been sitting at the FBI with the Biden administration for four long years. Here's that it was just sitting there. This case wasn't moving at all. Well, certainly this doesn't fit the narrative that there were outside players in the January 6th issue. And we know that the Democrats' whole narrative, along with Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, the people with Trump derangement syndrome that was incurable, their whole mission was somehow to frame President Trump. So any evidence that would counter that, including Nancy Pelosi responding or requiring or corresponding with President Trump on bringing the National Guard in when they suspected something that might be coming, might be bad happening on January 6th. The same thing happening when they continue to cut out the very portions of President Trump's speech where he said, go peacefully and patriotically to the Capitol where he did not incite violence. These are the kind, this narrative is not what the Democrats wanted out. They didn't want that there was an outside player. And this is exactly what Dan Bongino, Panbani involved. You know, a cold case, they didn't do anything. And now you have good police work and they were able to find someone within a year. Yeah, all this resurfaces. But to make it, you know, be very clear, the suspect did plant pipe bombs at both RNC and DNC, headquarters, which makes you, you know, it just is a head scratcher for sure. So lots to still unpack. I wanna wrap up with you before we let you go on these ICE movements in New Orleans. There's this new video out of New Orleans, of course, the pushback on these ICE officers, once again, who've started moving in on that city and then Tom Homan defending his officers. He was actually speaking at a TPUSA event in El Paso, believe it was last night. He was defending his age and not just his agents, but he had this exchange with a heckler in the audience. There's the TPUSA video right here. He's at the podium here and a heckler calls him a traitor. And he said, hey, you know, I'll take all your questions, but grow a spine, put on a flak jacket, pick up a gun, and let's see how tough you are now. The pushback, the messaging from the top brass, you know, with ICE, your thoughts, and Tom Homan, you know, heading up our national security here. Great, fantastic. I mean, look, Tom Homan lives in my district. He's one of my constituents. So, you know, he has done so much to secure our border, to save American lives, and to stop this flow of people coming into our country. What so many of these protesters don't do is do their homework and get the facts. You know, there are people here that have come here, they've been trafficked here. They've come across the border illegally. Some of them have, you know, their only crime they've committed is coming across the border illegally, maybe trafficked. But in between all those people are the dangerous people, the foreign terrorists, the people coming to harm the United States, whether they're Chinese nationals coming to do surveillance, coming to, you know, undermine our security in this country. They're dangerous terrorists, they're human traffickers, they're members of gangs and cartels. And they hide among many of our, you know, otherwise foreign workers who are here on visas. Maybe some of those visas expired. We are not going after those people. We are going after repeat offenders and people who are the worst of the worst that put our security of our nation at risk. He has sealed the border with President Trump's, you know, strong advocacy on his behalf. We haven't really changed any laws. All we've done is enforce them. We cannot have safety and security in this country without a sovereign border. When you are attacking ICE agents, you are attacking the police, you are bringing back the defunded, demoralized, the police movement. They are an important part of government. They are doing a heroic job. Give them the opportunity to keep our community safe from these dangerous people. And the places where the ICE is affected is where the governments are cooperating with them. The places where ICE is getting imperiled and in danger are in Democrat-run areas like Chicago. And here you'll see Democrat on areas like New Orleans, where they are working against the people, although the state government of Louisiana is very pro-law enforcement and they're also working with our ICE agents. But, yeah, you saw it on the ground in Illinois. When you get pushback from, you know, the elected officials on the ground to, you know, literally unravel the efforts before they've even arrived, it works against the mission for sure.
