A strong atmospheric river is affecting the Pacific Northwest, bringing between 5 to 8 inches of rain and up to 6 feet of snow in some mountainous areas through Friday morning. The weather system is also expected to send some of its energy eastward, impacting the Midwest as it moves across the country.

Rainfall will continue through the evening and into the following days, with additional energy arriving on the coast and spreading inland. Flooding remains a concern, with flood alerts and warnings issued for several regions due to the ongoing precipitation and snow accumulation.

So through Friday morning. Notice we're going to get 5 to 8 inches of rain and we're going to get almost the same when we're talking about feet of snow 5 to 6 feet here for some of us, but you'll see 2 to 3, three to four as we go a little bit inland. So some of the energy today actually is going to impact us into the Midwest. Which is pretty interesting, isn't it? How everything moves from West to East. There's your rain that's still coming in this evening into our Wednesday. That system has moved in. We get more energy that's coming into the coast. That continues as we head into our Thursday and notice it pours all the way inland as well. So with that said, there is that possibility of flooding all the way through our Friday morning. Don't forget why are we seeing the split here with the rain and the snow? You've got those mountains there that are going to give you the snow, but we do have flood alerts and some of these flood warnings here along.
