What is the market trying to figure out here? I feel like this is like fear and greed at the same time There's just so much polarization when I'm doing my meetings if you even look at the M&A market It's like a huge pipeline people try to get stumped, but there's also Restructuring is done. You look at the market people are buying really high beta, you know kind of dreamy stuff But they're also trying to get more defensive. So I feel you know, look look good in the last 24 hours You've got big firms coming out with bold calls for the equity market and you've got really smart guys like good luck and you know Saying we got a problem. So it's just it to me There's just a lot of polarization and uncertainty and as you pointed out, we've got a couple of data points this week You know September September jobs and NVIDIA's earning so it's a it's a weird time and I think the right move is You know to try to find things that aren't correlated to the AI trade within the equity market Anastasia of Jeffrey gun locket Adam is is highlighting He says quote the health of the equity market in the United States is among the least healthy in my entire career talks about where he sees a next crisis coming from but one can only Surmise that he certainly is is addressing how Concentrated this market has been but in your mind like what is the market cycling through here? What is stuck in its brain that has it concerned? Yeah I mean, I think Adam sort of hit the nail on the head Which is there's a lot of people out there who? Wondering whether we are an AI bubble for example if we are in a market bubble and yet those same people will tell you we're Not in one and they continue to participate in this and I think one of the questions right now in the mind of investors Valuations, so I assume what Jeffrey's talking about is let's say looking at the Schiller PE multiple you look at it It's about at 38, which is above where it was in 2000 in 2000 But if you extrapolate the max 7 stocks out of that We're actually looking at a 28 times multiple, which is below that 36 that we saw in 2000 So investors can then look at the max 7 and say well that's trading at 74 times Schiller PE But Scott I compare that 200 to 254 where it was in 2000. So that's what it wants to see That's what they worry about but to me Nvidia might actually be a positive data point for the market this way We're gonna we're gonna see we're gonna have to wait a couple of days step, you know for every gun lock There's a Pascarello of Goldman Sachs who says my baseline view still net positive I'm not convinced. This is the start of something rotten the core of my argument financial conditions are easy US growth is set to accelerate and the flow of capital is supportive of stock prices So on your in your in your mind, what are we battling here? I think it's two things one is that we are in a place where we haven't seen Economic data in a while and we don't know what it actually means The only data that we had for example from a jobs perspective was challenger data and actually don't think it looked that bad It was 62% of layoffs this year come from the government and government related things I think the other thing we're battling with is what our rates gonna do and right now I think we're in a moment that is very similar to what happened to Europe in post 2008 where they had to worry about countries like Germany versus Spain and Greece and now we have to worry about potential inflation from tariffs versus Potential slowdown from real cost-cutting that may be starting from the tech sector
