Fico has requested guarantees from Europe to ensure Slovakia does not suffer from the loss of Russian gas, as the country is heavily reliant on these imports under a contract with Gazprom valid until 2034. Bratislava has also raised concerns about potential damage claims from Gazprom if the supply is terminated prematurely.
