A potent cold front is set to move from the Central U.S. into the East this weekend. For Saturday, the severe storm threat spreads from Texas to Michigan, with the strongest threat expected for cities like Little Rock and Memphis.

Now, the daytime heating is going to allow for this yellow area to expand in coverage. So basically, this is your potential energy, and we are going to see more of that instability developing as we go throughout the day. So some of you may not even get a storm until much later on, like the afternoon or evening time frame. But some of you are getting it early in the day, like Oklahoma City. There it is, all the way down to Dallas. Could there be some delays, a ground stop at the airport? It's possible. And we also see the storms spreading out across the Ozarks into St. Louis by 5 o'clock this afternoon. It is teeming rain out there, lightning shooting across the sky, Little Rock. We don't need the rain. We have a surplus of like eight inches at both locations there. Memphis, we see some heavy rain pushing towards you as well, down to Jackson. Look at the parishes of Louisiana. And these storms do continue during the overnight hours. So of course, when it's dark outside, you don't want to be fumbling for your phone and flashlights. So make sure you've got everything ready to go, because the power could go out with these storms. And you need a way to get those warnings. Nashville, hopefully the storms get on out of here for your Titans game later on in the day tomorrow. Here's a look at the severe potential as we go into Sunday. It's going to be all about the Gulf Coast. That's where we still have most of the instability left over with these storms as they push on through during the early morning hours. Notice Atlanta. You're going to wake up to the sound of rain. How long has it been since we've had rain? Time to dust off the umbrellas here. Tallahassee, we've got some heavy rain coming through around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It's 5 o'clock along the Georgia coast down to the first coast of Florida. And yes, even the Carolinas, you guys get some light to moderate showers, I'll say. But we all need some of that water.
