The festival, organized by the Dakar 2026 committee, also focused on raising awareness about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. Young participants were trained as community ambassadors to promote physical activity, aligning with national health strategies. The 2026 Youth Olympic Games are expected to bring together 2,700 top athletes aged up to 17 from around the world.

The festival, which brought together thousands of young people across the Dhaka 2026 host cities, comes just a year before the Youth Olympic Games 2026. The international futsal tournament in Jamnagio was one of the festival's highlights. Eight under-17 men's teams and women's teams from Africa, Europe and South America competed, including Senegal, Morocco, Portugal and Brazil in the men's event. Namibia and Guinea featured in the women's category. I think that the tournament is proving to be a very enjoyable competition. The Senegalese people are very welcoming and try to help as much as possible and make sure we don't lack anything. Of course, there are still things to improve, but overall I think the organization is good. And honestly, I think they are ready for the 2026 Olympic Games here in Dhaka." Delivered by the Dhaka 2026 organizing committee, Dhaka Onju capped a week of activities celebrating the one-year-to-go milestone for the Youth Olympic Games. There are many awareness-raising themes discussed here, all of them extremely important. It really moved me because I saw young people who were shy at first, but later they opened up. They were eager to talk and to share their thoughts and that was wonderful to witness. This activity is perfectly aligned with the Ministry of Health's strategies, because we know that many diseases are directly linked to lifestyle and environment. It plays a crucial role when it comes to preventing certain illnesses, especially non-communicable diseases. This initiative, training young people who will later act as community ambassadors, raising awareness about the importance of physical activity and promoting healthy living, is truly significant. The Youth Olympics will bring together 2,700 of the world's best young athletes, aged up to 17.
