The search was paused as night fell, with crews set to resume efforts at first light. The alarm was raised when the man failed to return, and authorities hold grave concerns as the search enters its second night.

There are grave fears tonight for a fisherman missing off the coast of Port Kembler. The 35-year-old man was had left from Sutherland Shire yesterday morning. His empty boat has been found but so far there has been no sign of him. Paris Martin joins me now from Dolan's Bay. Paris, what's the latest on the search operation? Well, Sandra, search crews are being stood down for the evening as there's only less than half an hour before the sun sets over Sydney. There has been a mammoth search operation today involving multiple agencies including police and marine rescue. There have been a handful of helicopters also, plenty of boats out and about searching this area. It's focused around Port Kembler but it does also stretch all the way down to Jervis Bay. Now this 35-year-old man, he took off from a boat ramp at the bottom of Port Hacking Road here yesterday morning. The alarm was raised when he failed to return that evening. Now it was around midnight that his six-metre vessel was found about 30 kilometres off the coast of Port Kembler but unfortunately there was no sign of that man on board. There are grave fears tonight as the search enters its second night. But Sandra, crews are right now being stood down and they will resume the search tomorrow morning at first light.
