In a separate incident, Russian media reported that a Ukrainian drone targeted the Slavneftianos oil refinery in Yaroslavl, one of Russia's largest refineries. The facility, located over 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, sustained damage after several explosions and a fire, impacting a major producer of petrol, diesel, and jet fuel.

Russia attacked the port city of Odessa in the south of Ukraine overnight into Friday, damaging civilian infrastructure and leaving parts of the city without power and water. The head of the Odessa military administration, Sergei Lisak, said that residential buildings were damaged as a result of, quote, yet another hostile attack. Kiev accuses Moscow of intensifying its attacks against Ukraine's critical infrastructure with the arrival of the cold winter months and repeat of its war strategies in previous years. Many Ukrainian cities are experiencing extended power cuts, with some areas only having electricity for three to four hours a day. Meanwhile, Russian media outlets say one of Russia's largest oil refineries was hit on Friday in a Ukrainian drone attack. The Slavneftianos oil refinery in the western region of Yaroslavl, one of the top five refineries in the country, sustained damage in the strike. Residents reported at least seven explosions, which were followed by reports of a fire at the facility, located more than 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The facility is a major producer of fuels, including petrol, diesel, and jet fuel, and has an estimated processing capacity of about 15 million tons of crude per annum.

For the first time, Amnesty International has accused Hamas and its allies of committing crimes against humanity, following an investigation into the 7 October 2023 attacks on Israel. The organization found that 1,221 people were killed and said the mass killing of civilians amounted to extermination.
