One concept under discussion is deporting migrants to centres in third countries. There are people who came to Europe illegally, who have no protection, no right to stay here, who have to leave their country, their home country, or if this doesn't work out, they have to move to another safe third country. We consider this to be reasonable and feasible in the context of such a system. The AFD's Bernd Baumann considers the idea a fundamentally good one, but has questioned the SPD's ability to implement it. It's a great idea, it comes from us, we've been doing it for years, but if you want to implement it, you can't coalition with the SPD, who says it's devil's work, there's no way. And it doesn't work with the EU either. It only works with a national policy, with the majorities that the people have chosen in the Bundestag. They are there, with the AFD the majorities are there. You could do it all, immediately. Green Party MP Claudia Roth says the concept runs counter to the principle of asylum. First of all, I think we shouldn't forget that in our constitution, the basic right to asylum is mentioned, that it has a lot to do with our history. And this permanent reduction, criminalisation of people on the run is really wrong. Left Party MPs pointed out that third countries are not guaranteed to be safe for migrants. Every human being has human rights, basic rights, and these are taken away from them, they are put in some kind of cages, and the procedures are getting more and more complicated, and the right to asylum is unknown, it doesn't exist anymore. And SPD politicians remain undecided. There are many points that say we have to ensure order, but there are also many points that say we need more human rights. Control, direction and a firm line is Dobrindt's motto for combating illegal immigration into Germany. However, with a divided Bundestag, it is unclear how much consensus can be made. It is clear that the Union will implement this into practice. Left and Greens are concerned about human rights, and the SPD is divided. Already after the first meeting, unity looks different.
