The Arakan Army has denied responsibility for the alleged massacre, claiming the bodies shown in circulated photos are those of soldiers from the military council. Human rights activists, such as Razia Sultana, are urging urgent international investigations, stating that these are not acts of war but ongoing massacres. Rights groups have presented what they say is evidence of the atrocities, and survivors continue to call for global action.

Forty-year-old Shamsul Alam from Butidong in Myanmar's western Rakhine state says he still carries the nightmare of last year, when he witnessed and documented the gruesome killings and crimes committed by the Arakan army. Two weeks ago, with nothing but fear in his heart, he fled to Bangladesh with 12 family members including his wife, children and relatives. I risked my life to document the dead, searching for my relatives, among them 30 members of my family. I miss them deeply. At least through these images, I can see the remains, hold on to proof and one day use it to help my community seek justice. In a news conference on Tuesday, an Arakan army spokesperson denied responsibility for the massacre. If you see the allegations being raised now, carefully look at the photos. The helmets of the terrorist military council and the shoes on the dead bodies, these are the evidence. The bodies shown in the currently circulated photos are the corpses of soldiers from the terrorist military council who were killed. Rights activist Razia Sultana, who says she lost close family members in Myanmar last August, is calling for urgent international action. This must be investigated. These are not acts of war, but ongoing massacres. They have committed such atrocities before and we brought the Burmese army crimes to the ICC and ICJ. Now this must be exposed too. In recent months, Mur Rohingya fled Myanmar to Cox's Bazaar camps in Bangladesh, most relying on relatives. Many can't register for UN cards, leaving them hungry, untreated and afraid to leave the camps. Last year, Nur Kalima's husband was detained and tortured for months in Butidong in Myanmar. They managed to escape to Bangladesh with their two children last June. I witnessed the killings in Butidong. In front of us stood a mosque where people from many villages had sought refuge. Countless were killed and their homes were burned to ashes. As rights groups show what they say is proof of the massacre, survivors recall bodies being burned and homes turned to ash, pleading with the world to act before more people are killed.
