The missing child reportedly lived at the home with family who have since moved overseas, and was not reported missing at the time. The current homeowner, who has lived at the property for eight years, expressed shock at the discovery and confirmed no knowledge of the previous occupants or investigation. The remains have yet to be formally identified, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

Investigators began digging around the home on Monday as part of an investigation into the disappearance of a Brookfield toddler in 2014. After the search commenced, they discovered the remains in a shallow grave just 50 centimetres deep. It is believed the missing toddler lived at the home with his family in 2014, but the family has since moved overseas. Police say the child was not reported missing at the time. The current owner of the home received a call from police who informed him they believed a body was buried metres from the back door. Police have confirmed the owner of the home and its current residents had no idea of the investigation and no affiliation to previous occupants. My reaction is pretty bad, living in the property the last eight years, I never suspect something like this is possible happen. I live here now with my two children, my wife and my little girl. Fortunately, they are on holiday in England with some friends, luckily they don't need to see this awful scene. Ursula, the remains are yet to be formally identified, but the coroner has been made aware and a post-mortem will be underway shortly.
