Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles has introduced a newly constructed five-story mausoleum, addressing the city's limited space by building vertically. The mausoleum, which opened in January, is already partially sold out and provides permanent resting places for about 13,000 people, including notable figures such as Judy Garland and Rudolph Valentino.

The cemetery, known for hosting festivals, yoga, and movie nights, is redefining the role of cemeteries in the community. The mausoleum's design incorporates natural light, marble, and views of Los Angeles landmarks, aiming to create a serene environment for visitors and families of the deceased.

Ricardo Pantry raised his family in Hollywood and visits his mother's grave every week. That is a quad. So hopefully I'll be here and maybe some children will join me. He bought four cribs. The mausoleum opened in January and already two of the five floors are sold out. We are part of Hollywood forever because I used to bring my family to teach them how to drive here. Hollywood forever is changing the definition of cemeteries by making them for the living. There's festivals, morning yoga and movie nights. But space is at a premium. Architects Roberto Scheinberg and Michael Lehrer had to create very permanent housing for about 13,000 people. How do you even begin to design a mausoleum in Hollywood? The way we start all our projects is just we solve the problem. Instead of buying more properties outside of the city where people have to drive, it's just going vertical. This is somewhere between parking and housing. Making it beautiful was kind of important. The mausoleum welcomes visitors with soothing marble, ample natural light and stunning views of L.A. landmarks. You're right in the middle of the neighborhood that you all grew up in. Yeah. Hollywood has been our home for years. The design brings elements of peace and comfort to Vanessa Morales. My grandma will rest here forever, but we come to take in the moment. It's nice to know that she can finally rest and that we're okay with knowing where she's at permanently. In the City of Angels, a place of sadness, now one of serenity.
