A Los Angeles court has cleared American rapper Cardi B of allegations that she assaulted security guard Imani Ellis in 2018. Ellis claimed Cardi B, who was pregnant at the time, cut her cheek with a fingernail and spat on her during an incident at a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office. 

Cardi B denied the accusations, stating she did not physically touch Ellis, though she admitted to a verbal altercation after noticing Ellis attempting to film her. The jury deliberated for less than an hour before unanimously siding with Cardi B, concluding the high-profile $24 million case.

Cardi B, who'd not made her first pregnancy public at the time of the incident, admitted there had been a verbal fight, claiming she'd noticed that Ellis was trying to take a video of her. The 12-member Los Angeles court jury deliberated for less than an hour before reaching a unanimous verdict, siding with a Grammy award-winning recording artist.

In California on Tuesday, a jury took less than an hour to clear Cardi B of assault allegations made in a $24 million civil lawsuit. A security guard claimed the rap star attacked her in 2018.
