A stationary front stretched across the south will bring stormy weather and heavy rain for much of the Southeast this weekend. Flooding is possible with the associated ongoing rain.

A stationary front is forecast to remain over the southeastern United States, resulting in persistent clouds and rainfall across the region. The repeated rainfall is expected to saturate soils, increasing the risk of flash flooding in areas such as Alabama, Georgia, and northern Florida.

Storms are likely to affect cities including Columbus, Montgomery, and Mobile in Alabama, as well as Jacksonville, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia. The risk of flash flooding extends westward into Louisiana and possibly Texas. Rainfall is expected to continue over several days, with some areas experiencing heavier and more concentrated downpours as the week progresses.

Rainy weekend ahead for the Southeast

Now we've got that boundary that stationary front that's going to drape its way across parts of the Deep South. That's going to be your focal point for clouds and of course rain and where it all comes together. We may see more scenes like the ones you saw in Jefferson County, Alabama. Happening again, heavy downpours could lead to some flash flooding, no doubt, but even light to moderate rainfall when you have a day after day after day. Something's gotta give it a lot of times the soil becomes saturated, then everything else is almost instant runoff and then you have the rising water and all kinds of problems. Now for today we do have the storms that may be in your story for making for Columbus to Auburn, Alabama, Montgomery, Troy, Mobile, Alabama. Certainly possible and even Dothan and across the wiregrass. Maybe even Jacksonville, Florida. We see the rain that is forming offshore, but it's the onshore activity that could be really the big story as we roll in in forward and look at that you see a little bit of rotation off the Carolinas. I'm saying that's going to be something, but it's always think out of watch, especially this time of year. We have all that warm water and we keep an eye also what's happening onshore, which will include the heavy rainfall in Savannah and points West. If you're Georgia Southern student, you're checking into college. Well, you may be greeted out the side of the dorm with some heavy rain that could be coming down in Valdosta. And look at this. Wow, from Knoxville. To Montgomery, all these areas through tomorrow. There will be the risk of flash flooding, but it's not just in parts of the Southeast. You could see some over Louisiana and maybe even Texas for tomorrow and then into Monday. Much better shot of it on the 95 corridor that drives him from Savannah to Brunswick down to Jacksonville. Yeah, all all these areas. Jekyll Island could have some heavy rain too and notice that in some locations where it has been sprack at times becomes much more concentrated on your Tuesday and on your Wednesday.
