Rain and storms will shift into the Northeast Sunday before another round of rain could hit parts of the region early next week. Cities like Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Detroit could all see rainfall this weekend.

A weather system is set to move into the Northeastern United States, bringing rain and the potential for severe weather. The main threat from this system is straight-line damaging winds, though heavy rainfall is also expected, with widespread totals of one to two inches and some areas potentially seeing more. 

The rain will affect cities including Washington, DC and New York City, with temperatures remaining relatively mild. After this system passes, another storm is expected to move in, continuing a pattern of frequent storm activity in the region. No wintry weather is anticipated, as temperatures are not cold enough for snow.

but it's going to be the very same area that experiences the severe weather chances tomorrow. And you might be feeling those temperatures outside this morning saying, really, we have a severe weather chance tomorrow. Again, the primary concern is going to be straight line damaging winds. You will have some rain too, which for a lot of us in this region is much needed. You can see along that line, at least that leading edge, I think is going to be our biggest chance for the straight line damaging winds, but you also have some very heavy rain. That's going to be moving through eventually passing through areas like Washington, DC, and then eventually up into New York city. They barely making it into the seventies, about one to two inches of rain. That's going to be widespread. I think there absolutely will be areas that pick up more just the nature of, you know, some of those pockets of heavier rain, but we're not quite done. Once the weekend system departs, which it's going to linger for the first part of the week, especially for those along the 95 corridor. Then we have to watch our next system that starts to move in. This is going to be falling more into a pattern where it seems like as of late the last month or so, it's been pretty stagnant for a lot of the weather. Now we're falling into a pattern where we see one storm system after the next. And that includes, okay, there's the one on Monday. That's our weekend storm. That's eventually going to move into Canada quickly replaced by this one, which is going to be centered over the great lakes, the UP of Michigan here by Tuesday morning. And you might think, okay, time of year, are we going to see any snow at this? No, the, the, the air isn't quite cold enough of any kind of wintry weather. Chances will be confined up into areas like Canada. So just a plain cold rain for a lot of us in Michigan.

The Trump administration is awaiting word from the Supreme Court after asking it to allow the immediate deployment of National Guard troops to Illinois to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. A lower court blocked the move.
