The anti-immigration rally, attended by an estimated 4,000 people, caused several city streets to be closed and was met with a strong police presence. Counter-protesters marched nearby in support of migrants and refugees, emphasizing inclusivity and the rights of newcomers. Similar rallies took place in Canberra and Adelaide, with organizers indicating that further demonstrations are planned.

We can take more people, but it needs to be more controlled. Police reported the crowd was mostly well-behaved, as organisers urged them not to clash with counter-protesters. We are not violent, so we want to be loud. We want to make sure our voices are heard, but we are not causing any trouble. Get your immigration up your... An estimated 4,000 people have turned out for today's anti-immigration rally, shutting down several city streets and covered by a heavy police presence. The turnout well short of the crowds at the first March for Australia protest in August. Only a block away, but miles apart in their causes, counter-protesters also took to the city streets, marching in support of migrants. Blame the rich for healthy pay. I believe that refugees, migrants should be welcomed in this country. Unless you're Indigenous and you're a migrant in this country, and I don't think we have any right to tell anyone they can't live here or be here. Peaceful rallies were also held in Canberra and Adelaide, as organisers across the country signalled this isn't the end, with more protests to come. Hannah Taylor, 10 News.

The Trump administration is awaiting word from the Supreme Court after asking it to allow the immediate deployment of National Guard troops to Illinois to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. A lower court blocked the move.
