Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillage made the decision friday when she says followed a judge's 2022 ruling that key evidence was withheld from Jones defense. It overturned his conviction, granting him a new trial. We did take a deep dive and it took us months to get through this original testimony revealed wrote in Nathan was brutally beaten to death in her hotel room. Corner reports showed she had hepatitis B. The modern review by a very distinguished expert testified at the motion for a new trial that hepatitis B is extremely contagious. Even tiny, tiny pinpricks of contagious sample could lead and would lead to someone contracting the disease. At the time of the 1995 murder, Jones was treated for an injury to his hand. Pillage says he was tested for happy then, but he was never told that. Pillage says the results show Jones never had the virus that excludes him as a suspect. Pillage dismissed this case with prejudice, meaning her office won't pursue charges against Jones again, but it leaves the door open for investigators to try again with different suspects. I entered this fully knowing that it is going to be very difficult to solve an old case like this. I know that Mrs Nathan doesn't get justice. I know that there's another person who committed this horrific act Yeah. And Pillage told us she did call and speak with Nathan's two grown sons. It was not an easy conversation. Pillage says while they understand the decision, they're frustrated and they're grieving because after three long decades, their mother still does not have justice.
