Buckingham Palace stated that the decision was necessary despite Andrew's denials, and expressed sympathy for victims and survivors of abuse. In addition to losing his titles, Andrew will move out of the Royal Lodge and into accommodation at Sandringham. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will also leave the residence, but their daughters retain their positions. Andrew remains eighth in line to the throne.

She always said, you know, only one of us is telling the truth and I know that's me. Andrew denies all allegations, but the palace concedes there have been lapses of judgement. Prince Harry got kicked out from marrying an American woman. This is way worse. Way, way worse. Is this what we represent? Is this what the people represent? No, it's a disgrace. So I'm happy he's got a strip on his titles, his royal titles as well. He should be kicked out of the country. As well as losing his titles, Andrew is also losing his home, having to move out of the Royal Lodge, where he's been living almost rent-free for years, and into spare rooms at his brother's Sandringham estate. Maybe in the fullness of time, he will be invited to join the family for very, very private gatherings such as Christmas. I don't know. I don't. This is uncharted territory. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has also been given the boot, but their daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been spared. Andrew remains eighth in line to the throne, but further from his family than ever before.
