That means this shutdown will stretch into next week, leaving many without pay and at risk of losing key benefits. Tonight, the Senate running for the exits and running out of time as deadlines mount for critical payments and social safety net programs. What message do you think this sends to the American people? Like I said, I apologize. You know, like this is. This is absolute fail and a betrayal of our commitment to our constituents. Come Friday, troops are owed a second paycheck. Saturday funding lapses will hit head start wick and snap with food aid said to run out for more than 41 million Americans, plus millions of consumers could face higher premiums when open enrollment begins under the Affordable Care Act. I don't worry about my flight. There are a dozen states where more than 14% of the population receive assistance because of the shutdown. Those benefits are set to end this weekend. Today, the crowd at the Community Table Food Bank in Arvada, Colorado was so big it had to close, but not before Danielle Brand was able to get some essential oranges. The line started at 9 o'clock this morning, and I don't remember ever seeing it being this busy. I mean, they're turning people away. The Armed Services YMCA food pantry near Fort Hood helps junior enlisted soldiers and their families put meals on the table. Haley Rodriguez, a soldier's wife, had a few words for lawmakers in Washington. If you're willing to sacrifice your paycheck to help us and see what it's like to struggle. Back here at the Central Texas Food Bank, these trucks behind me will be packed in on the road as they go to set up more than 50 mobile pantries across Central Texas.
