He recalled that for nearly 30 years, Armenian forces controlled about 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, displacing a million people. After the 44th day Patriotic War in 2020, Aliyev said Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity in line with UN resolutions. Justice has triumphed, sovereignty has been consolidated, and peace is de facto reached. We stand prepared to share our positive experience. Aliyev also underlined the peace process with Armenia. He pointed to the Washington summit this summer, where the sides initialed a peace agreement and signed a joint declaration with the U.S. President Donald Trump as a witness. Beyond regional security, Aliyev stressed Azerbaijan's global role in energy, connectivity, and climate action. The adoption of the new collective quantified goal at COP29, also known as Baku Finance Goal, is a historic milestone in global climate finance. This commitment brings previous 100 billion U.S. dollar annual climate finance goal to at least 300 billion U.S. dollar per year through 2035 from public sources in developed countries to developing countries. On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Aliyev also held several bilateral meetings with world leaders discussing regional cooperation, energy security, and global development. Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan remains committed to promoting peace, sustainable growth, and energy security worldwide.
