Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the Atlantic and could become the first hurricane of the season. Meteorologist Jessica Burch has an early look at the storm.

Tropical Storm Erin is being tracked in the Atlantic during the peak of hurricane season. Meteorologists report that Erin is the fifth named storm of the season and is currently projected to remain well offshore from the East Coast, according to multiple forecast models.

The storm is expected to strengthen as it moves over warmer sea surface temperatures, with the potential to reach category three status. However, there is no current concern for landfall. Forecasters note that the situation could change depending on environmental factors such as wind shear, and they will continue to monitor the storm's development closely.

Possible tracks for Tropical Storm Erin

OK, so look at that. You see those spinning things out there in the Atlantic Ocean. We're tracking the tropics in the middle of hurricane season. We have our eyes on E Aaron right now, so we're already A to E and it's spinning out there. Five named storms so far, and it's crazy because the National Hurricane Center just issued their updated expectations for this season. They're expecting to see anywhere up to around five major hurricanes, meaning category three or stronger. This potentially could be one of those. Take a look at this. I want to start off with this named storm. I mean widespread throughout the Atlantic. We've been seeing a lot of development and where we're at right now with Tropical Storm Aaron. Well, all the spaghetti models and Chase is going to zoom into this just so you can get a good look. All the spaghetti models continue to show it tracking well offshore as we head into our Sunday and Monday forecast of next week compared to where the the East Coast is at at least. So as for making landfall, that's not a concern as of now, but we continue to watch it strengthen. Take a look behind me as it enters some warmer sea surface temperatures. We could see it strengthen anywhere up to category three, being the first major hurricane right around the corner, potentially as we head into early next week. Now, of course, those models can change. This could strengthen. It could weaken if it hits some strong wind shear. We're going to monitor this closely, especially as it enters those warmer sea surface temperatures, really just allowing for that rapid intensification to last as it moves its way just north of the Dominican. That's where it's tracking as of now. But look at the spaghetti forecast model a little bit closer and let's even zoom in. You could see it well offshore of the East Coast. This is what we're keeping a close eye on as we head into the following days. I have more on that coming up in a bit. Back to you.
