A 30-year-old man known to police was dropped off at Bankstown Hospital with gunshot wounds to his stomach, shoulder, and hand after being ambushed outside a ute on Kentucky Road, Riverwood. Police established a crime scene and recovered two bullet casings, but their investigation has been hampered by the victim's lack of cooperation.

Local residents expressed fear following the incident, and authorities are urging both the community and the victim to come forward with information. The man remains in serious condition after being transferred for surgery, while police continue to search for clues and question neighbours.

In an induced coma, a man with a target on his back dropped off by a stranger at Bankstown ED with bullets lodged in his stomach, shoulder and hand. Police attended the hospital where initial enquiries led police to identify a crime scene on Kentucky Road, Riverwood. Ambushed outside this ute, neighbours say shots rang out around 10pm before the 30-year-old known to police screamed a series of profanities. It's just terrifying. I'm terrified to come outside and a lot of the older people here who have lived here for years, we're scared. It's scary. Just don't know who it is and what's going on. We are investigating these and we will respond swiftly to ensure the safety of the public. Moved in a serious condition from one hospital to another for surgery as forensics captured what they could to help build the case. And as night turned to day, the riot squad searched for missing clues while detectives questioned neighbours to try and solve this complex puzzle. I can confirm we have located two bullet casings. Authorities say the victim's not cooperating and it's hindering the investigation, leaving many questions unanswered like who pulled the trigger, why and where are they now? Hopefully there are members of the community who will come forward and we are hopeful that the victim will speak to us so we can obviously identify these offenders and take them off the streets.
