So Liam I thought universities were kind of skeptical of AI because of how disruptive a technology it is to classroom instruction and learning as well. Have they just had a big change of heart. Well I don't know if there's been a big change of heart but there's certainly been a growing acceptance that this technology is here to stay. And there's also a growing recognition among professors among school administrators that this technology is part of training students to be you know successful in the workforce of the future. And so more and more colleges are coming on board formally adopting deals with AI companies offering licenses and access to students and faculty you know with the kind of mindset that it's better that they learn to use it thoughtfully and productively rather than surreptitiously. Right. So they've kind of yeah they've kind of formally bought in in a way. OK they formally bought in. But open AI is very aggressive certainly in contrast to Microsoft and Alphabet. Can you tell us a little bit about what open AI strategy is here. Sure. They've really made a hard push into the education space at open AI and have made a lot more early inroads than some of their competitors. They've offered big kind of bulk discount prices at least discounted per user for colleges that buy you know licenses in bulk for chat GPT. They've designed a kind of pointed educational use GPT tool called chat GPT EDU. They've brought in salespeople and executives from educational technology companies like Coursera. They've really made a big push here kind of with the view that if they get in early at colleges these students the future workforce will be reliable customers you know will be part of this ecosystem. Other competitors are have have made pushes to Google is offering a Gemini assistant for free to college students for a limited time. But open AI has certainly made early headway. Yeah early headway. But you also point out that as much as the universities are embracing this or at least they recognize that they need to get on board there are schools that are they want to be more thoughtful about this and they are investing money or putting some of their resources to work in terms of really looking into the interplay between technology and their traditional curriculum. What can you tell us about what Bowdoin College is doing. So Bowdoin College received earlier this spring. I think it was a 50 million dollar gift from the Netflix CEO Reed Hastings to kind of study the educational opportunities and potential downsides of A.I. in the classroom at colleges. And they've some of their researchers are still very skeptical about the effects say that the use cases are still pretty limited and that really you know the research is is in its early stages even as these colleges ink these deals and make make a more formal kind of partnership with some of these A.I. companies that that there's still a lot to be learned about exactly what the effects of this technology are on learning outcomes. And so there's a lot of wariness still among people who research this. But it's here.
