A year after a burglary at a check cashing and money transfer business in Logan Heights, San Diego, the case remains unsolved. The owner, Maddy Castrejon, lost $60,000 in cash and jewelry when suspects broke into her store, which was located inside a laundromat. Surveillance footage captured the suspects, but despite police distributing flyers and collecting DNA and fingerprints, no arrests have been made. Castrejon has since closed both her businesses and is seeking community support through a fundraising campaign to help recover from the financial losses, as her insurance did not cover the stolen cash.

This is one of two businesses that Maddy Castrejon once owned, but because of a burglary that unexpectedly hit her one year ago this month, she's been forced out of business. She's asking her community to either help find the people who did this or help pay back what they stole. The first thing we came in and we opened everything because that's where our safe was. It was gone. Maddy Castrejon takes me back to the morning she discovered her life flipped upside down. The glass was broken. All the jewelry displays were dropped on the floor. On September 4th 2024. Police say these men broke into Maddie's check cashing and money transfer store located inside this laundromat on Ocean View Boulevard in Logan Heights. This is surveillance footage taken from inside Maddie's store. The detectives handling Maddie's case say these are the men they're looking for. Police say they stole $60,000 including jewelry from Maddie. They took the safe, they took everything, even the pennies they took from the register, everything. They took everything. The impact of this burglary so great, two of her businesses are now gone. She's still paying back what was stolen. We were left with all the debt um from the companies, the insurance, they don't want to pay for them because it was mainly cash that they stole and insurance does not cover cash. Detectives tell me they had sent out flyers to other law enforcement in the county looking for these men. They've also submitted DNA swaps. There was a lot of fingerprints. One year later, still no arrests. Maddie started this go fund me. She's asking for help to recover from this burglary. Everything that is sent to our go fund me would go towards paying all the debt and Maddie isn't giving up hope on finding justice.
