The Olympic flame was ceremonially passed from Greece to Italy at a special event held at the Parthenon and the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. Olympic gold medallist Roa Stephanos Antouskos lit the cauldron before Italy's Giovanni Malago received the flame from Greek Olympic Committee president Isidoras Kouvelos.

The flame will now embark on a 63-day, 12,000-kilometre journey across all 110 Italian provinces, culminating at Milan's San Siro Stadium on February 6th. This marks the first time in 20 years that the Olympic flame will return to Italy.

Now it's Italy's turn to carry the flame. 63 days, 12,000 kilometres ahead, weaving through all 110 provinces before landing at Milan's San Siro Stadium February 6th. The flame's heading home to Italy for the first time in 20 years.
