The destruction of the olive orchards has left local Palestinian families without a key source of income and reduced the village's accessible farmland from 2,200 to just 120 hectares. Residents describe the event as a significant loss to their livelihoods and express feelings of helplessness as they are denied access to their land.

I wish I didn't live to see this day. Israeli forces arrived with the bulldozers, leveled everything. They didn't leave any olive trees. In October, the Israeli army announced it will appropriate 70 hectares of Palestinian land, shown in red on this map. The army says the land grab is to create what it calls a buffer zone around the nearby illegal settlement of Eli, built mostly on Qariyut land. These trees are in the land sandwiched between the red line and the illegal settlement. The land is now off-limits to its owners. The total area of the village was 2,200 hectares. They left us with 120 and are now bulldozing it. For Palestinians, this is another Israeli land grab trick that denies farmers their way of life and livelihood.
