Police in Columbus, Ohio, are asking for the public's help as they search for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a dentist and his wife on the city's Near East Side.

Columbus police are investigating the deaths of Spencer Tepe, a 37-year-old dentist, and his 39-year-old wife Monique, who were found shot in their home. The couple's two young children were found unharmed at the scene. 

Authorities report there was no forced entry and no firearm was recovered, and they do not believe the incident was a murder-suicide. The family has expressed heartbreak and a desire for justice as police continue to search for a suspect.

Detectives are still going through a multitude of evidence, video footage, all that stuff. The couple, who got married almost five years ago, had two small children and the youngest just 17 months old. When Spencer didn't show up for work Tuesday morning, his co-worker called police for a welfare check. We're very, very concerned because this is very out of character. And we can't get in touch with his wife, which is probably the more concerning thing. Columbus police went to the home but did not see anything. Later that morning, another worried co-worker called 911 from outside the home and told the dispatcher they could hear kids inside. We had a call out there. They knocked on the front door and back door multiple times and there was no answer. Yeah, no answer. I could hear kids inside and I think I heard one yell. A friend got into the house and saw Spencer's body. Police records indicate that he had been shot multiple times. His wife Monique was shot at least once in the chest. The children were unharmed. Police say there was no forced entry, no gun recovered at the scene, and they do not believe this was a murder-suicide. A memorial is growing outside the couple's home. In a statement late today, the family said they are heartbroken beyond words and they are committed to seeing this tragedy fully and fairly brought to justice.
