Several hundred protesters from the Palestinian Youth Movement assembled outside the New York Times headquarters in New York City to protest the deaths of journalists in Gaza, including Al Jazeera's Anas al-Sharif. The demonstrators distributed stickers and displayed paintings to honor the journalists, while calling for an end to what they described as genocide and criticizing major media outlets for their coverage of the conflict.

Additional protests took place outside the United States' mission to the United Nations, organized in part by healthcare workers. Organizers announced plans for further demonstrations, including a large march aimed at drawing attention to the situation in Gaza and supporting journalists reporting from the region.

They're chanting an end to the genocide, and they chose this location for a reason. We're here today because this week Anas al-Sharif, the journalist, along with several of his colleagues were murdered in an Israeli airstrike. And we're here up front of the New York Times because of the role that legacy media institutions like the Times have played in running cover for Israel's genocide. We know these media institutions have the ear of the powerful. We know that they have a role to play in building the political will to end the genocide, to end the starvation campaign, and thus far they've refused to do so. So we are here to say that they have the blood of Anas and all of the other over 200 Palestinian journalists who have been murdered by Israel in the course of the genocide on their hands, and that it's unacceptable. Earlier in the day on the other side of New York City, more protests outside the United States' mission to the United Nations. This is part of an ongoing action that has been occurring every day for the past week. They too are calling for an end to the genocide, and what they say is the U.S. complicity in allowing mass starvation in Gaza. The plan is to hold similar protests every afternoon right outside the United Nations headquarters. This protest was organized in part by health care workers. Why am I out here? Because anyone who takes an oath or receives an education as a guardian of life, of health, needs to stand against genocide, needs to make that position known, and that includes not just protests in the street, all of the medical organizations in the United States. On Saturday we're expecting another protest here in New York City. They're calling it the Mass March for Humanity, where organizers say they are hoping tens of thousands of people will take to the streets, calling for an end to the genocide and support of journalists in Gaza.
