California is bracing for another round of severe weather, with rain expected to begin by 6 p.m. and transition to heavy snow overnight. The system will bring rain to southern California by Saturday afternoon and continue into Sunday, affecting areas from San Francisco to Los Angeles and extending into the intermountain region.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for northern Utah and Colorado, where ski areas may see additional snow. The Sierra is forecast to receive the most snowfall, though lower snow levels are needed to impact entire ski resorts rather than just the peaks.

We start to get into the snow overnight and those snow will be coming down overnight and where we could see certainly a couple of feet of snow. We'll get rain into southern California again as we get into Saturday afternoon. So here we go. We just rewind it on Sunday. More rain. San Francisco down to Santa Barbara into Los Angeles and some of this moisture sneaks over into the intermountain region where we've actually got at least a chance for ski country in northern Utah and Colorado to get some snow. We got winter weather advisories out through here. So we'll take whatever we can get. We could really use it here. The Sierra gets most of the snow, but right now we're just kind of waiting for those snow levels to come down Steph. So it kind of really impacts the entire ski resort instead of the top tips.
