The bulletin follows three high-profile incidents, including an alleged arson at a governor's home in Pennsylvania, a fatal shooting at the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., and an incident in Boulder, Colorado. Authorities have stated there is no known connection between these events, but they are concerned about the possibility of copycat attacks.

In response, police have increased patrols around religious organizations across several major cities, and lawmakers are advocating for increased security funding for synagogues and other religious institutions. The Nonprofit Community Grant Program, which supports security upgrades, was recently reinstated after a temporary freeze. The alert comes as public gatherings and celebrations are expected to draw large crowds in the coming weeks.

Nationwide security alert for Jewish and Israeli communities

We have now had three high-profile alleged anti-Semitic incidents in as many months. Of course, that alleged arson attack at Governor Shapiro's home in Pennsylvania back in April, the fatal shooting at D.C.'s Capitol Jewish Museum, and now, of course, this incident in Boulder. Now, there is no known connection between these three events, but there is that narrative link in all of this coming as an escalation of Israeli action in Gaza. Police know that copycat attacks are not uncommon after these types of very popular, you know, widespread, I should say, events. And the bulletin disseminating to law enforcement nationwide also comes amid several public gatherings, you know, in Boulder since that attack happened. There has been a Jewish festival here in the nation's capital. Thousands are expected this weekend to celebrate D.C. Pride, a celebration of the LGBTQ community. And of course, you know, we're just weeks away from 4th of July celebrations nationwide. So what can communities and law enforcement do now that everybody's up on high alert? Yeah, well, certainly it is the case that police have been increasing the number of patrols around, you know, religious organizations, not just synagogues, but also churches and mosques. And we know that has been happening in cities across America, from Los Angeles to New York to, of course, Baltimore here in Washington, D.C. and in Boulder, Colorado. And lawmakers on Capitol Hill have also been advocating for an increase in funding for security, for training, for cameras and gates at the nation's synagogues and religious organizations, something called the Nonprofit Community Grant Program that routinely funds hundreds of millions of dollars.
