The Hillsdale Fire Department posted an alert around 3:27 a.m. saying crews were actively working a second alarm fire and more details would follow later.

News 12 New Jersey's Tony Caputo joining us now with new information from the mayor. Tony. Yeah, we did speak with the mayor and he tells us that some firefighters did suffer minor injuries. He wanted to emphasize they were minor injuries. As a matter of fact, you'll see one getting carted off this morning. But take a look at the house first and the damage you saw that earlier video from drone 12 that hole in the upper right corner looks like it's in that living room, probably the kitchen area in the back of the home as well. But take a look at that video again from drone 12 and that is much more than just a hole for venting. You would think it looks like those flames just came right through the roof during the overnight hours. Bergen County Prosecutor's Office saying this all started around 3 3 30 this morning and firefighters arriving on scene doing everything they could to bring it under control. When we first got on scene, we got a chance to speak with the fire chief, but just briefly said he just didn't have any information for us at that time, which was certainly understandable. They were very busy out here. But then we started hearing talk of firefighters possibly being injured. And while we were in our satellite truck, we watched as E. M. S. Did wheel a firefighter or what appeared to be a firefighter to one of their ambulances on a stretcher because of the seriousness of the situation and some of the injuries that these firefighters did suffer during the overnight hours. But again, in talking with the mayor, he emphasized all minor injuries to the firefighters. Good news. And the couple that lived inside, they not only got out, but they we saw them drive away as a matter of fact, which was also good news. But the mayor kind of wrapped it up for us a little earlier. Yeah, everybody is safe. The owners got out of the house. They they've thought since left. And so we're going through it trying to identify the source. And so begins right now. They're just gonna try and identify exactly what caused this very damaging fire again. No serious injuries. That is certainly good news. So we get a little more information. We'll pass it along.
