The Great Lakes region is experiencing strong winds ranging from 30 to 50 miles per hour, with gusts over 35 mph leading to reduced visibility and the issuance of blizzard warnings. These warnings are in effect for eastern North Dakota, northeastern South Dakota, and western Minnesota, primarily due to wind and visibility concerns rather than snow accumulation.

Lake-effect snow advisories are also in place through midweek, with winds carrying moisture and producing snow along the west side of Michigan and throughout the region. Additional snowfall is expected for cities including Chicago, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Madison, Milwaukee, the upper Ohio Valley, and the Northeast as the week progresses.
