The disappearance of 43 students from Iguala has become a symbol of Mexico's ongoing crisis of missing persons, with over 130,000 reported cases nationwide. Eleven years after the students vanished, their families continue to demand answers, alleging collusion between criminal gangs, police, and public officials in the case.

Despite promises from the current government and the appointment of a special prosecutor, the parents say they have not received all relevant information, particularly from the army, which they believe holds crucial files. Demonstrators gathered outside a military base in Mexico City, calling for the release of documents that could provide new leads. The annual march continues as families and supporters seek truth and justice for the missing students.

If you ask anyone in Mexico who the 43 are, they'll know. It's a case that's become a symbol of the country's more than 130,000 disappeared. They were students who vanished on a rainy night in the town of Iguala. Taken by a gang, it afterwards emerged in league with police and public officials. Eleven years later, still, nobody knows where they are or exactly what happened. For Cristina, the hole left in her life has never been filled. As mothers, we remember how we carried them for nine months in our womb and gave birth, nursed them, raised them, watched them walk, grow, talk. We hold all of that in our hearts. We cannot forget them. Each of our children is with us. The students' parents say that successive governments have stonewalled them as they've tried to find out how far the collusion went in disappearing their sons. Current President Claudia Sheinbaum says she's different. Truth and justice, that's our commitment. We are working on it. There is a new special prosecutor and we are holding meetings with the mothers and fathers of the Ayotzinapa students. We'll do everything in our power to bring truth, justice and to find them. The parents believe that the army, which has a base in the town of Iguala and which phone records show was aware of the events of that night, could shed more light. Some of the parents and a lot of students have gathered here outside of a military base that's in Mexico City. That's because they say that the army is withholding information about what happened to the 43 and they want there to be transparency. They want those files out. There's about 800 files, say the parents and their lawyers, which could have leads on what happened. Have you received any response from the president about releasing those files, I asked Joaquina Garcia, one of the parents. Well, the president says they already delivered the files that were missing, but frankly, no, not all the ones needed to get to the truth. And that is the reason we are here. There is still no breakthrough, no end in sight. And without it, every year, people still gather on this march down Mexico City's main avenue with the same chant since the students disappeared.
