During the sentencing, Perry's family confronted Plasencia in court, expressing their grief and anger over his actions.

Plasencia is the first of five individuals to be sentenced in connection with the case. All have pleaded guilty, including Yasvin Sonia, who faces more serious charges related to distributing the fatal dose and could receive up to 65 years in prison when sentenced in late February.

It's been two years since beloved Friends star Matthew Perry was found dead in a jacuzzi at his Pacific Palisades home after overdosing on ketamine. And this morning, former doctor Salvador Plasencia is in federal prison serving a 30-month sentence for his role in Perry's death. Plasencia pleaded guilty in July to four counts of distribution of ketamine. In court Wednesday, Perry's sister said instead of protecting, you exploit it, pointing to text messages where he bragged, I wonder how much this moron will pay. Perry's mother, Suzanne Morrison, told Plasencia, this is my boy. I want you to see his mother. Visibly sweating, Plasencia told Morrison he worries about one day explaining what he did to his two-year-old son, adding, I'm just so sorry. Perry's stepfather, Keith Morrison. Oh, it's a tragic story. You know, sometimes apparently nice guys do bad things. This sentence indicates the severity of the crime and the fact that we have a doctor breaking his oath. There's no allegation that the ketamine that he gave Matthew Perry was the ketamine that actually led to the death. And that's what's on the other side of the balance. Plasencia is the first of five people sentenced in the case. All have pled guilty, including Yasvin Sonia, the so-called ketamine queen accused of selling the fatal dose. She obviously pled guilty to more serious charges. I think that will weigh in the judge's mind. So Yasvin Sonia pleaded guilty to distribution of ketamine resulting in death. And that is a key difference here. She'll be sentenced late February. She faces a maximum of up to 65 years in prison because of that tiny difference. It's a far more severe penalty. Tony.
