A Facebook Marketplace transaction in the Vines, Perth, escalated into violence when a buyer attempted to pay for an e-scooter with counterfeit money and then tried to steal the item using a taser. The seller's father intervened to protect his son during the altercation, which was captured on security cameras. 

Police arrived during the struggle, and the suspect fled, hiding briefly in a nearby garage before being apprehended. The 28-year-old man was charged with several offences, including attempted aggravated armed robbery. The seller has since advised others to avoid conducting online sales at their homes for safety reasons.

An innocent online sale that ended in violence. It was straight into a fight and he ripped the taser out of the bag and started trying to tase me. Three men captured on security cameras can be seen approaching the home in the Vines around 3.30 yesterday afternoon. After Bevan's 14-year-old son advertised his e-scooter on Facebook Marketplace, a sale he wanted to make alone, but his father insisted on being there. He gave us the money, I looked at it, I said, mate, this is fake money, we're not going to take it. And then he got, straight away he got violent. Police say that's when the buyer attempted to steal the scooter. Bevan stepped in to protect his son. That's where I actually hit the taser at one point there. But a lot of times I, you know, I blocked it. Yeah, he got me there as well. It was at that very moment a police car just happened to drive past. We were just so lucky after a couple of minutes of fighting that there was a police on the roundabout across the road that just happened to show up at the right time. Police say the wanted man then jumped a series of backyard fences hiding out in an elderly woman's garage before taking off again down a nearby street. Police finally taking down the 28-year-old moments later. It was just a terrible commotion, just hear from outside a lot of screaming and angst going on. He was charged with a string of offences including attempted aggravated armed robbery. Bevan's message for anyone selling online is never invite them to your home. Anywhere public, even meet them at the bloody Ellenbrook police station out the front and sell it to them there. You know, anywhere but at your own house, 100%. Jessica Brown, 10 News.
